One of the goals of our very large parish is that all parishioners of Our Lady of the Snows will one day be part of a small group of parishioners in their own neighborhoods.
While a large parish can provide many programs and services for its members, its size can inhibit a feeling of belonging.People can be reluctant to respond to general invitations to participate in the life of a very large group.
Smaller groups, however, promote what is lacking in a larger community.Contact is more personal, and people feel more welcomed and included when personally invited to parish functions.
OLS is looking at geographical neighborhoods throughout the parish and identifying groups of between 12 and 16 families/members.Each neighborhood has a representative who makes the welcoming contact and extends invitations (one time per year) to parish functions on behalf of the pastor and entire parish.
We are looking for parishioners who enjoy meeting people and care about their neighbors. While this position is very important, it also requires a minimal amount of time and effort and has the full support of the priests and office staff.
If you would like to become your neighborhood’s representative, please speak to one of the priests or call the Parish Center at 586-1741 to speak to Kate or Carol.
